"Being Miss Samoa has been an experience of a lifetime." Talofa Lava and welcome to the Miss Samoa Pageant 2008 The past year has gone by so quickly. I can still recall the moment when I suddenly went from being a Year 13 student at Aorere College in Auckland to becoming an ambassador for Samoa. I knew from the beginning this experience was going to be challenging. Twelve months on, I can confidently say it’s a challenge that I have fully embraced and satisfied to the best of my ability. Being Miss Samoa has been an experience of a lifetime. It is an experience that I am very grateful to have and at the same time very proud to pass on. The memories I have gained, the people I have met and the places I have been to are all due to the humble title of Miss Samoa. Congratulations to my nine beautiful sisters who have chosen to take part in this prestigious event. From this act alone you have shown the very attributes of our Tama’ita’i Samoa; courage, confidence, passion, patience and beauty from within. Good luck and God bless. As I prepare to pass on the title, I take this opportunity to thank Their Highnesses the Head of State Tuiatua Tupua Tamasese Efi and Masiofo Filifilia Tamasese, the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Tourism, Chairman of the Miss Samoa and Miss South Pacific Pageants Honourable Misa Telefoni, the Chief Executive Officer of the Samoa Tourism Authority Matatamalii Sonja Hunter and staff, Roache Motors, the Miss Samoa NZ Organisation, the wonderful people of Samoa, my amazing family and friends, and last but not least our Heavenly Father. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your endless love and support. Soifua, ma ia manuia! Sherry Natalie Elekana
