About Me: My name is Tavalea Rachael Nilon, a name which I inherited from my two great grandmothers. Daughter to Alan and Jennifer Nilon, I was born in Australia and moved as a young child to Samoa with my parents and three brothers. I live with my family in Sinamoga; my villages are Faleasiu and Vaimoso.
Being part of a close knit family I have grown up with certain values, the foremost being, which my grandmother instilled in me, is “to have Jesus as my best friend”. Other values include helping and respecting others, meeting life challenges to the best of my abilities, showing integrity and wisdom in decisions that I make, and having a go at things and seizing opportunities which would make for a richer and more rewarding life.
I see myself as an easy going yet determined person. Being part of a constantly active family I enjoy activities such as family get togethers, hanging out with friends, charity work, water sports, cultural dancing, reading and as of late May, Thai kickboxing. I am employed by Samoa Breweries Ltd as a Professional Engineer and it is my passion to see more projects focused on renewable energy using Samoa’s many natural resources.
I look forward to being part of Samoa’s development in that area. I know through it Samoa can become a leading nation in the Pacific region. I have entered the Miss Samoa pageant because it’s a unique challenge and through this endeavor I hope to become a good ambassador for our country.
