Jolivette in Traditional Outfit at the 2010 Miss Samoa PageantIt is indeed a great honour and pleasure for me to extend to you all a warm welcome to the beautiful islands of Samoa. A country blessed with picturesque surroundings and beauty that will undoubtedly take your breath away. The people of Samoa draw from these innate treasures pride in their land and culture, but it is indeed the warmth and friendliness of the people that truly make Samoa beautiful. Receiving the Miss Samoa title has provided many opportunities, both here and abroad, to represent Samoa in all its unsurpassed cultural beauty. It has been a role I have carried out with humility and diligence for it has profoundly deepened my appreciation for our Samoan culture.

The pageant is a celebration of the various attributes of a Samoan woman of today. I believe that being Miss Samoa is not just about personifying that of what a Tamaitai Samoa is but more so it is about one in an influential and empowering role. I can only hope that I have achieved this through the continuous assistance I have provided to the community. I may not have impacted great changes but I have done all with great love.

This year has presented me with many challenges. I thank God for giving me the strength to persevere through it all. The abundant blessings He continuously imparts upon myself as well as those who have helped me through this journey.

To my grandparents, parents and family members, thank you for nurturing me with words of wisdom and words of love. I can only hope that I have made you all proud.

To my dearest friend, you have taught me how to become a stronger person, to defy the odds and take up the impossible. I am thankful to have you in my life.

To the Government of Samoa and the Management and Staff of Samoa Tourism Authority, thank you for giving me this prestigious opportunity to serve Samoa. May your hard work and commitment continue to develop our tourism industry in a sustainable way that will become a model for the rest of the Pacific.

To my sponsors Joe Keil and Family, Mena and Salon Sheree, you all have greatly assisted with my role and duties in the many functions I have been called to attend during my reign. Thank you all for your kind support.

To all my friends, the laughter shared will always hold fond memories. Thank you for always keeping me in touch with reality.

To the ladies vying in this year’s pageant, I commend you all on the courage shown to join with me in this year’s celebration of the Miss Samoa. I wish you all the best with what will no doubt be, a journey of self discovery for all of you.

To my succesor, may our Heavenly Father guide you through the myriad of rewarding challenges that await you. Know that “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” Philippians 4:13. O ou mama na!

To all of Samoa, thank you for your love and support. May our Almighty God keep you all in His protection and blessings. Faafetai Samoa. I am humbled to have been your Tausala Samoa 2010-2011.

Soifua ma ia Manuia
